Why you need the what3words app
We think it’s the best thing since sliced bread for sharing exact locations. Where to stand to get that epic view. Where to start or end on a walk to where the best hot chocolate is and where our front door is in the dark.
WHAT3WORDS has divided the whole world into 3x3m squares, giving each a unique 3 word address. They’re pre-set, random collections of words unique to each spot in the world.
Place names are written in the format ///word.word.word. For example ///feasts.joyously.smiles will bring you to the front area of the original Kingshouse building.
It can be a little tricky to understand if it’s the first time you’ve come across it, but once you get the app, it will be a new toy for some time.
There’s an app, which can be downloaded below. Download this pre-travel and you can access the maps and place names offline. If you know a what3 word address you can upload it to your phone maps and it will provide directions to where you want to go.
